It’s a chamois leather-like material that makes wearing the boots simply delightful. The Premium polar rubber sole utilizes Baffin’s Icepaw technology to give a remarkable grip on ice and snow. While the upper is made from Timberwolf leather and Diamond-Lite insulated nylon. These shoes are rated at -148 degrees and have been called the greatest extreme cold winter boots ever.
IRISH SETTER ELK TRACKER 1000 MEN’S WINTER BOOTS
The Irish Setter Electracker 860 Men’s Winter Boots ($230) are made for the hunter that tends to go a little further than everyone else. The boots have a temperature rating of -100 degrees and feature a 1000 gram Thinsulate Ultra Insulation, a comfort tongue technology to minimize pressure on the shin, a double EE width to fit your winter socks, and Irish Setter’s SentBan with a silver-ion technology to kill odor-causing bacteria. Great boot that will handle any terrain while hiking or hunting.
Sorel Men’s Alpha Pac Extreme Snow Boot
The Sorel Men’s Alpha Trac Buckle Boot ($130) is a 2 pound boot with a temperature rating of -60 degrees below zero. They feature a molded EVA midsole for reduced weight and a thermal protection, a removable 9mm Sorel ThermoPlus Xtreme InnerBoot, and a gaitro with barrel lock keeps the snow out and heat in. The multi-directional rubber lug outsole gives you great traction on any surface. The Alpha Trac’s have been described as a stiff shoe more like a ski boot, not great for everyday use or just walking around, but excellent for handling deep snow or snowmobiling.
COLUMBIA BUGABOOT PLUS II MEN’S WINTER BOOTS
The Columbia Bugaboot Plus II Men’s Winter Boot ($90) is an excellent priced boot temperature rated to -25 degrees. Each boot weighs just 24 ounces and features Columbia’s Omni-Heat thermal reflective insulation, full waterproof sealed seams, a full length Techlite shell and midsole and a full Omni-Grip outsole. The Omni-Heat insulation reflects your own body heat back into the boot which amplifies the effect of the insulation. If you’re looking for a cheaper shoe with a decent temperature rating the Bugaboot should work nicely.
HELLY HANSEN GARIBALDI D-RING MEN’S WINTER BOOTS
The Helly Hansen Garibaldi D-Ring Men’s Winter Boots ($150) are a great apres-ski or everyday around town boot. The European Inspired boot offers a lugged sole which provides excellent traction, high grade leather, a faux fur collar, and a high comfort EVA midsole. The felt lining will keep your feet warm in some of the coldest temperatures. But not too cold. These are great stylish around town boots, but if you’re looking to handle really cold temperatures I would check out the Irish Setter’s or Baffin Apex.
