Keen Brixen Low Men All-Weather Shoes
If you’re looking for top-quality waterproof shoes try the Keen Brixen Low Men All-Weather Shoes ($90). This slip on style shoe has several waterproofing features to keep you warm combined with wool felt lining internally. Sizes are a little more limited with only sizes nine to twelve available; color options are black or dark brown. With a tread on the sole that is more akin to a hiking boot, these shoes will be especially useful in slippery and adverse ground conditions. Although $90 these shoes still represent a reasonable value for the money.
Northside Men’s Dawson Winter Shoe
If budget is an issue, but you still want a great winter shoe, consider buying the Northside Men’s Dawson Winter Shoe ($31+). With suede uppers and a waterproof rubber sole, these shoes are designed with cold-weather protection in mind. Available to buy in black or camel colors and sizes eight to thirteen, these shoes are an attractive, inexpensive item and would make an ideal gift. Designed for quick outdoor use (e.g. walk to shops, snow shoveling) rather than heavy use (e.g. mountaineering, hiking, etc.) We can’t help but feel these are a great buy for the bargain shopper.
Salomon Men’s Snowtrip TS WP Winter Shoe
Perhaps as much as any other shoes in this review the Salomon Men’s Snowtrip TS WP Winter Shoe ($119+) is specially designed for winter use. Nike Sweet Classic Leather Winter Men’s Shoe
If you like your brand names, then the Nike Sweet Classic Leather Winter Mens Shoe ($44) is worthy of consideration. You’ll find these available in a variety of colors in what is a “style over substance” type of shoe. The upper area is either leather or nubuck suede, with Phylon for the midsole and rubber for the outsole. Although marketed as a winter shoe, we don’t believe these have quite the same winter features as competitors. They are competitively priced though at $63 and are recommended for local use, especially if you like to wear branded shoes.
DC Men’s Spartan High WC WNT Skate Shoe
Well, you couldn’t quite go skating with the DC Men’s Spartan High WC WNT Skate Shoe ($63), but this shoe will keep your feet warm. This shoe contains a mixture of premium nubuck suede and leather and is an excellent alternative to the Nike shoe above and at $63 is the same price. For sporty types, the shearling lining and padded areas make this a more convincing winter shoe. Designed for the snowboarder’s community, it’s not surprising they keep owners warm. The sole is exceptionally abrasion resistant to help with high impact collisions, and the patented tread for its anti-slip qualities in adverse weather. Overall this is an excellent winter shoe for the “sporty type” seeking value.
The North Face Back-To-Berkeley Redux Shoe
If you are looking for a nice mix of style and function, then The North Face Back-To-Berkeley Redux Shoe ($110) could be the right choice for you. Ted Baker Men’s Espalo Rain Shoe
We now move onto our most expensive shoes in this guide the Ted Baker Men’s Espalo Rain Shoe ($195). Ted Baker of London is perhaps the most “trendy iconic” brand in this collection and therefore it’s no surprise these shoes come at a price. Available in black, ark blue and dark green, these Espalo shoes are stocked in sizes seven through to thirteen. The exterior of this shoe is 100% rubber; the interior is 95% polyester. With two-tone laces, the design is attractive, but we feel there is better value on offer with other shoes. These are more “style over substance”, but buy these if you love the Ted Baker label.
