If I were to describe the Y-3 QASA B-Ball ($435) with one word, that word would be funky. Y-3 is a line from Adidas, and this new basketball high-top will definitely grab some attention. The upper is made from neoprene, leather and mesh, with a cage-like TBU piece running from the base to the collar for additional support. Additional features include Yohji Yamamoto branding on the side of the outsole along with a "Y-3" patch on the tongue. Redwood created its first watch in 2015. Their watches are inspired by the great outdoors and are meant to be reliable daily wear watches that can handle anything you throw at them. Their latest offering is the Rosewood Tactical Watch ($124) inspired by vintage diver watches. EEven though this watch is inexpensive, it is not cheap and comes with some really nice specs. The case is made of SS316 solid stainless steel, one of the most corrosion-resistant and indestructible steels available. And the PVD coating on the versions with black cases is anti-reflective and scratch-resistant.The Rosewood Tactical utilizes a Japanese quartz movement which is ultra-reliable and requires zero maintenance. The absence of moving parts makes it extremely shock-resistant. The battery has an expected battery life of 3-5 years. What's also great about this watch is its 100m water resistance which is perfect for the show and casual swimming.
The New Pizzeria Pronto Outdoor Pizza Oven ($299) will deliver flawless pizzas in about five minutes. All you have to do is hook up your propane, pre-heat to 700 degrees ( takes about 10 minutes) and cook for about 5 minutes. The oven features dual cordierite stones, a reflective heat shield and a moisture vent so you get crisp, tasty pizzas every time.
Well someone has finally gone and done it and created a fully operational jetpack. Last week Jetpack Aviation unveiled it's JB-9 Jetpack ($TBA). If you were in New York at the time, you could have seen David Mayman lift off from a boat and fly around the statue of liberty. The JB-9 runs off of kerosene and can carry about 10 gallons of fuel. According to David this will give you about 10 minutes of flight. Additional specs include a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet, and a top speed of 100 miles per hour. The JB-9 is small enough to fit in the backseat of your car so you could, in theory, take it anywhere. The current jetpack is the first one they fill meets most consumer requirements. Future updates will include auto stability systems, longer flight times, and a rapid deployment parachute system. Now it'll be interesting to see, which goes into mass use first, a flying car or a jetpack.
The Bike Shed, owned by Derick Van den Bussche, is based out of Brooklyn, New York. They specialize in creating beautifully customized motorcycles. Their latest project, the VDB MOTO B-1 ($TBA), started its life in 1986 as a BMW R80RT. By the time Derick got his hands on the bike it was in pretty bad shape. His goal was to maintain the bikes rugged appearance while seamlessly mixing the old with the new. The R80RT was stripped of excess parts and rebuilt using a custom VDB rear subframe, ribbed brat styled seat, a modern 7" headlight, dropped mirrors, mini warning lights, powder coated wheels wrapped in Pirelli MT43 tires, and ton of other customizations. VDB believes their bikes "should be able to venture beyond where the road ends", and it looks like this awesome machine hit that mark perfectly. If you're in the market for a one of kind custom bike, the Bike Shed is a great option.
