The Gerês House By Carvalho Araújo ($NFS) reminds me of works by Frank Lloyd Wright, particularly Falling Water http://www.fallingwater.org/ located in Pennsylvania. The Gerês House is located in Minho, Portugal and was completed in 2015. It sits on a steep slope just above a stream. The small home that was previously at the location was demolished and its location moved due to continual small landslides. Just like Falling Waters, the new structure relates beautifully to the surrounding property. The interior features a large living area that overlooks the property and the stream below and features a terrace, that takes further advantage of these elements. The kitchen is on the same floor with the mezzanine and bedrooms located on the lower level.
