One of our major philsophies we have at Muted is if you use it every day you need to buy the highest quality available. Concerning EDC lights, the Maratac Copper Flashlight Rev 3 ($55) fits perfectly into that category. This light is machined from a solid piece of copper billet stock. This isn't a copper plated flashlight. It's hand-finished and measures 2.6" long with a diameter of .5", and weighs just 28 grams without the battery and 40 grams with the battery. The Maratac utilizes a Cree XP-G2 R5 LED light that lasts up to an amazing 50,000 hours. Additional features include a lens that's been coated with an anti-reflective coating, three brightness levels, a clip and o-rings.
Paul Smith is an English designer and as an homage to the last run of the iconic Land Rover Defender, he's created a Bespoke Paul Smith Land Rover Defender ($TBA). When it comes to my cars, I'm usually a black on black kind of guy, but there is something really cool about this ride. In his design, Paul used 27 individual colors, which makes a nod to the truck's service history with the Army, Navy, and Airforce. The colors also reference the Defender's ties to the British countryside. Sadly, the Paul Smith Defender is a one-off and probably won't be going on sale anytime soon.
United States of Americana ($10) is essentially a field guide to the American Roots movement and is a fascinating and vivid account of why and how young urban Anericans found inspiration in the culture and traditions of a time long gone and brought that ethos into contemporary life. Compiled by Kurt B. Reighley, a DJ, entertainer and writer based in Seattle, United States of Americana explores this buzzing cultural phenomenon. From the clothes, to the music, to the rejuvenation of home canning, food and drink, burlesque, circuses and straight razors.
A guy named Till Konneker moved into a small apartment studio without any storage and the rest is just another great example of really good design. Till created The Living Cube ($3200+). The cube was made to store his record collection, TV, Clothes and Shoes. On the top was a bed and inside additional storage. What a great idea. Just think how much furniture you can get rid of if you had one of these in your room. Till is now offering these units for sale. He is offering a Mini Unit, an Urban Unit and a Living Wall that is priced based on the elements you want. All of the Cubes are fully customizable and available in several finishes.
