I strongly hope The Concept Span Watch from Box Clever ($TBA) eventually hits the market in some iteration. It is an elegant take on the idea of what a smartwatch should be. This tasteful concept uses a screen that spans the center of the watch. It provides the most critical alerts and notification across its curved OLED display. The Span watch was meant to be an extension of your smartphone and not a replacement. The quartz movement operates the jump hour timekeeping, while a jog dial on the bezel operates the watches interface. Again, if this guy ever hit the market I would love to pick one up.
Some of us barely have the patience to watch a full T.V. show. Imagine the dedication it would take to build a home for 55 years. This is how long it took to build Jim Olson's Cabin Retreat ($TBA). The home started as a 14 sq. Ft. cabin and was transformed over years into a stunning retreat. Starting when he was just 18, Jim carefully layered features year after year incorporating past additions seamlessly. Each layer revealing the cabin's history. Features include steel columns, floor-to-ceiling windows, and fir flooring. The flooring extends from the interior rooms to the outside decking, seamlessly connecting the interior and the exterior. Check out Jim's website for other beautiful works of art.
Kill two birds with one stone, with the beautifully made Brew Shucker ($30). The Brew Shucker was specially made to pry easily apart oyster shells and remove the meat. And of course when you're eating oysters, you must have a good brew. The built-in bottle opener takes care of opening beers or any other beverage. You can also use it to split lobster, crab, and shrimp shells. The blade is made from a high-carbon stainless-steel for strength and resistance to corrosion. You'll want to take this guy along with you when you're head out to your favorite oyster shack.
New Balance continues to release its lineup as part of the SS14 collection. As I've previously stated one of my favorite models is their 574 and now they've released the New Balance 574 "Island" Pack ($CALL) which would fit perfectly in Miami on a nice Summers day. The colorway features an upper made mostly from a bright blue ripstop fabric, the logo is turquoise layered on top of orange, and the mid sole is made up of an orange Encap that sits on white foam. The out sole is blue rubber and everything is brought together with a palm tree print liner. These shoes are available from Feature Sneaker boutique today.
