Analog Motorcycles is just five years old, but they're already making a name for themselves in the bike customization arena. Started by Tony Prust out of Gurnee, IL, they've created some iconic bikes like our previous reviewed 1973 Yamaha RD350 S2RD. They've now released the beautifully streamlined Blue Baron By Analog Motorcycles ($TBA). The bike started its life as a 1958 BMW R50. The frame was completely de-tabbed and features custom made items like top triple, headlight ears, rear taillight, fender struts, tank emblems, battery tray and cover, and the entire seat bracket assembly. The engine was completely rebuilt and all electrical wiring and lighting are new. Every detail on the bike is perfect.
After George Lucas wrapped up film on the last Star Wars movie; Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the master wanted to be able to look back over the entire saga from a whole new point of view. He wanted to isolate the stills, or frames, from every one of the 6 Star Wars epics and display them as works of design and photography in one volume. This was a process that took years as there is more than 150,000 frames in each movie, which effectively meant that he edited more than 1m frames down into the 1,416 images that made the final cut and appear in all their glory in Star Wars: Frames ($95). A real labor of love that was worth every minute, this is a phenomenal book that is an absolute must have.
"Fine art for font nerds." - New York Magazine. "One of the most engaging homages I have ever seen." - Steven Heller. Swissted ($29) has taken classic rock concert posters from the '70s, '80s, and '90s and has remixed and re-imagined them through their Swiss modernist lens. The result, in this book, are some of the coolest images you will ever see! The book features a total of 200 posters, which are already micro-perforated and are ready to frame. Then again, you can keep them bound in the form they came and enjoy a treasured art book. Steven Heller, the legendary designer, has written the foreword and this is a stunning and unique book that contains posters of everyone to Blondie and The Sex Pistols to Pearl Jame and Jane's Addiction. Totally awesome.
Mark March 27th on your calendar, because STAMPD is about to release an new line of monochrome hats that look awesome. The STAMPD City Hat Collection ($TBA) features the STAMPD logo, and different logos from major world cities including, New York, London, Tokyo, London, Paris and Los Angeles. My only issue is if you're going to be a street wear brand and have hats with major cities on them, how can you leave out Detroit. If they don't already have a Detroit hat they need to add one to the collection.
I know the first thing the comes to mind is a ninja throwing star made especially to take out bear. But the Bush Smarts Bear Star ($85) is a little more useful than that. The bear star helps you hang your food or other items out of the way of devious little forest animals. If you've ever awaken to a camp strewn with garbage or the meal you were planning to fix that day, then you know how valuable a tool like this can be. Included is the Titanium line thrower which gives you the velocity you need to get your line secured, while keeping your line untangled while in your pack. A Titanium clip that easily attaches to your bag for hanging and 50 feet of hi-viz reflective cord.
The beauty of beer is very much in the hand of those holding the glass. From the pouring to the storing, from the crushing of the cans to keg stand, from beer pong to beer bong, The Book of Beer Awesomeness ($13) is the definitive guide to beer drinking and could well be the bible for all brew lovers. Written by those experts who brought us The Book of Beer Pong, and featuring stacks of games of skill, memory and strategy and feats of fortitude, along with a host of other challenges and activities, this book is full of cup-flipping, kings-playing, frosty-mugged fun.
