This is as easy as it gets. The Chromecast ($35) is Google's new video streaming dongle. All you have to do is plug it into your TV's HDMI input and you can stream video, music, etc. to your screen. Write now the Chromecast can stream from Netflix, YouTube, Google Play and Google Chrome. It isn't perfect though. The one thing I look for with any video streaming device is the ability to stream your own videos, like the G-Box Midnight MX2. Once someone figures how to make the Chromecast work with apps like XBMC it'll move up higher on my list.
If you're looking for a great gag gift, then you have to pick up Book Of Things Better Than Boobs ($5). Think about for a second, what could be better than boobs? Not much. So that's why this book is filled with 142 blank pages. Nothing nada, zilch. And if you can find 142 things better than boobs, go ahead and fill in the pages, but I doubt you'll get a whole lot of people agreeing with you.
Nike has just released the latest colorway of their Skystepper and it looks awesome. Kinda like a monochrome Yeezy, the Nike NSW Skystepper - White & Black ($152) features a black and white woven upper with contrasting heel and strap. Everything sits on a speckled midsole to finish off a great shoe.
If you're looking for a robotic companion. You may have just missed the boat. Pepper: The Emotional Robot ($1700+) sold out in just minutes. Over 1,000 models were made available to consumers in Japan. Along with the $1700 price tag there is also a $200 monthly data and insurance fee. Pepper is just about four feet tall and weighs just over 60 pounds. It was created to read emotions, recognize tones of voice, and facial expressions so that it could more naturally interact with humans. The internal tech sounds like a high end smart phone - including cameras, touch sensors, and accelerometers. It also speaks multiple languages out of the box. If all this sounds interesting, you'll be able to get your own through Sprint Corp. stores in the U.S. starting next summer.
The Land Rover Defender is starting to be one of my favorite SUVs. There are a number of company's out there doing some beautifully things with these vehicles. Afzal Kahn Design is one such company. They've taken the iconic Land Rover Defender XS90 2.2 TDci ($70,000) and added racing seats in the front and rear. Each seat is wrapped in black leather and Harris Tweed. Yes, tweed. Machined Aluminum pedals and silver accent stitches on the seats finish off the interior. The exterior toughness of this vehicle is accentuated with red brake calipers and black wheels. This is one beautiful machine.
Under the right conditions I love camping. And the Lotus Belle Luxury Canvas Tents ($1800+) will make any camping trip or weekend excursion a thing of beauty. Lotus is offering 8 versions of their 13ft and 16ft tents for sale. Each of their tents feature a 350 gsm tent canvas treated to make them mould, mildew, rot and fire resistant. The floor is made from 340gsm PVC, which is the same durable and waterproof fabric they use to make kayaks. The whole kit is easy to transport; will fit in the trunk of your car, and can be set up by a single person in about 45 minutes. If you want to try one of their luxury tents before you buy, Lotus Belle offers a rental program.
