Directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Al Pacino, John Cazale, and Penelope Allen, this is the true portrayal of a man who robbed a bank to pay for the operation of his lover and the ensuing hostage crisis. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems and when a simple plan begins to spiral out of control you start to get an uneasy feeling that things may take a turn for the worse. A Dog Day Afternoon is expertly acted by Pacino and may well be one of his best roles.
