Ten One Design has come out with a great little minimalist stand for the iPad, called "Magnus" ($35). The stand is made out of aluminum with magnets across the surface. The small design makes the Magnus almost invisible when your iPad is docked. Because the stand uses the magnets that would normally be used by your iPads Smart Cover it is only useful when the iPad is in landscape. The stand works with 2nd or 3rd generation iPads and makes a great addition to any high-end workspaces.
The Nissan IDS Concept ($TBA) is the brand's idea of where they want to take their fully autonomous zero emission vehicles. The Nissan IDS, just revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show, incorporates Nissan's autonomous drive technology that improves the ability of the driver to see and react to unexpected dangers. It compensates for human error that causes 90 percent of all accidents. IDS has a fully piloted driving option that turns over the controls to the vehicle. There are also settings that allow the car to mimic the driver's driving style and preferences. The interior comes with two versions. One for the manual drive and the other for piloted. During the piloted mode, the steering wheel recedes into the dash and is replaced by a flat screen. The extra space allows all four seats to rotate inward, allowing for easier conversation.Check out additional details on Nissan's website.[gallery ids="20933,20932,20931,20930,20929,20928,20927"]
Packed with both insightful text and gorgeous images, The Story Of Eames Furniture ($130) is a unique book that can only be described as the benchmark reference guide to what is, arguably, the most important and influential brand of furniture of modern times. It reveals in unbelievable detail just how Charles and Ray Eames, alongside with their team of hugely talented designers, worked on creating pieces that still sit atop the bestseller lists. A fabulous book that not only documents how these landmark designs in furniture were created, and the subsequent way their reputation spread, it also tells us how modernism became an established force in offices and homes across the globe.
The big wide world of beer and brewing is explored in an engaging, funny and downright delightful way in Beer Is Proof God Loves Us ($12). Charlie Bamforth is your guide, considered by many to be the #1 expert in the world on every aspect of beer. After they held a worldwide search to find exactly the right person for the job, Anheuser-Busch installed him as their first Professor of Brewing Science at the University of California, Davis. Now he is giving us the most compelling and readable social history ever written about beer. We learn where it came from, the current position of the brewing industry and what we can expect in the future. Utterly brilliant.
Our favorite interior design style is minimalist with rustic and industrial touches. The Dusk Tufted Sofa ($2380) would fit perfectly in any room going for that style. It's made from a velvet charcoal polyester upholstery, that would go perfectly in a room going for the white walled, wood floor minimal look. Additional features include tufting on the back and inside of the arms, a hardwood/plywood frame with interlocking joints, and a roomy 92"L x 38"D. This sofa would be perfect for any room.
