One of the hardest things a human being can deal with is losing their memory, and Memento ($7) is a disturbing and thought provoking look at how a man deals with his short-term memory loss. Through the use of notes and tattoos he aims to track down who he thinks is responsible for the death of his wife. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, he weave his magic to produce outstanding performances from Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Paliantino. A heady mix of thrills and mystery, this is a movie you can watch time and time again.
The Making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back ($47) is a lavish, 30th anniversary tribute to cinematic blockbuster Star Wars : Episode V The Empire Strikes Back as lovingly told by J.W. Rinzler, the NYT bestselling author. The curtain is drawn back to reveal the amazing wizardry and intense drama that went into making this hit movie, arguably the favorite of them all from the fans point of view. Following on from his highly acclaimed The Making of Star Wars, Rinzler has once again made the most of the unlimited access he has to the Lucasfilm archives and come up with a deluge of hidden treasures including previously unpublished photos, images, artwork and mementos from the production. The Micro 3D Printer ($299) surpassed its Kickstarter goal of $50,000 in 11 minutes and with 28 days to go is sitting at a cool million dollars pledged. So what makes this printer so compelling?
