Old school simple games, are awesome. Storm the Gate ($60) is one of those games. Game play is straightforward; You start with two players, each player getting 8 tokens each. Using the cord on your side of the board you try to shoot all of the tokens through the center gate. Once all you tokens are on the other side of the gate you win. Told ya it was simple.
When you think MB&F couldn't possibly take their watches to another level they do just that. Their latest futuristic watch is the MB&F's HM6 Alien Nation ($500,000). They've actually turned one of their watches into a mothership complete with aliens.THE HM6 Alien Nation features a sapphire crystal which sits on a platinum case. The engine is made up of 496 components with 68 jewels. It has a Flying Tourbillion with retractable shield and provides up to 72 hours of power. The Alien Nation version of the HM6 comes with its own aliens in white gold and a case that utilizes MB&F's Ambient Glow Technology which gives the sapphire a blue glow. Now the sad news, besides the price. There were only four pieces made and rumor has it they've already been sold. Here's hoping they come out with a second run.
OK, before you get all excited, I need to give you the sad news that this 1975 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 406 ($57K) has already been sold. But there is no reason why we can't marvel at its beauty. Recently selling at a Bonhams auction the Unimog shown is a relatively rare dual cabin model, which runs on a six-cylinder, 5.7-liter, 84 bhp diesel engine, and is paired with a transmission comprised of six forward and two reverse gears. This guy has plenty or pull as its original job was towing aircraft. It could also be used as an agriculture machine with power take-offs that can accomodate a wide variety of machinery including; brush mowers, snow blowers, etc.
The Defender 4×4 “The End Edition” By Project Kahn ($86K) is exactly as the name implies. It commiserates, or better yet celebrates the end of production of the storied Defender Brand. The End Edition is a 2.2 TDCI XS 110 that seats seven. As with most Kahn designs, this truck has some major updates. Some of which include the usual Kahn touches like black quilted leather with grey harris tweed on the interior seats, and exterior Kahn badging throughout the vehicle. The Land Rover Defender, which does not meet U.S. federal safety or emission standards, cannot be lawfully operated in the United States. I'll throw a seatbelt in one of these bad boys to get into the country.
Shake ($25) is all about taking the difficulty out of making great drinks. Shake believes that making drinks should be simple, social and fun. The book starts off with bartending boot camp and then moves on to a seasonally organized plethora of cocktails which emphasize fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Shake is 168 pages of awesome mixology, and is written by Eric Prum & Josh Williams.
Nowadays, post traumatic stress is common place amongst those in the military who return from duty, but when Taxi Driver ($15) was made, back in the day, it was a condition little was known about. Under the masterful direction of Martin Scorcese. Robert De Niro is Travis Bickle, a Vietnam Vet who works the night shift as a New York taxi driver. His mental instability is fed by the sleaze and decadence that exists once the sun goes down in the city and with a pre-teen prostitute thrown in for good measure, this is one of the movies where you will have trouble at times believing what you are seeing. Iconic, classic, you can throw every superlative at the movie and not do it justice, the supporting cast that includes Jodie Foster and Cybill Shepherd make Taxi Driver a stand out piece of cinema that is still as relevant today as when it was released in the 70's.
