Millican is named after the eco-adventure nut, Millican Dalton. They strive to make gear that outlives us and can be passed down to our children and grandchildren. Their Gladstone Bag by Millican ($370) is just such a piece. The bag is great for overnight trips or weekend excursions. It features a large 38 liter interior compartment with false bottom so you can separate play from work, a number of interior and exterior pockets to fit your smaller electronics and a large padded internal pocket that fits a 15" laptop. The Millican has an outer fabric that is made from 100% organic cotton weatherproof canvas, has an interior lining made from 100% organic cotton, and straps made from 70% vegetable tanned leather. Check out the video after the break of the Millican getting ready for an overnighter.(more…)
When it comes to architecture and interior design, there are two things I love more than anything - Minimalism and Mid-Century Modern. The Merrydown By Mclaren Excell ($NFS) provide both of these in spades. The home was a former Victorian girl's school that was converted to a single story home in the 1950s.By dropping the floor and removing a false ceiling they created a home with a dramatic double height space with additional rooms at the first-floor level. The lower level is almost church-like with its upper level balcony. As you look around the home, you can see the expertly combined materials which include birch plywood, concrete, wood wool and brass. All of these materials are low cost, honest and hard wearing. The furniture is brilliant in its simplicity. Although mid-century furniture is very popular, I believe we will start to see even more if it used in minimalist style interiors. Making my point you can see the Hans Wegner style chairs we see throughout this home fit perfectly because .[gallery type="rectangular" ids="22648,22646,22645,22644,22643,22642,22641,22640,22639,22638,22637,22635"]
Mark Zuckerberg once said that he always wears the same outfit because "I really want to clear my life to make it so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve the community." A lot of great thinkers follow the same philosophy. From Steve Jobs to Barack Obama, they believe that limiting your wardrobe choices significantly reduces the amount of time you spend on frivolous distractions. So if limiting my wardrobe is going to make me a better thinker, I choose the Wings + Horns X New Balance 10th Anniversary Pack ($145) as my uniform of choice. The Anniversary pack features items made from a combination of weather-ready materials to make sure you're ready for all conditions. The pack includes an almost triple black pair of Wings + Horns X New Balance MT580 ($180), that feature uppers made from premium leather and suede, a Hooded Sweatshirt ($175) and sweatpants ($145) made from a hybrid of double-brushed fleece and Japanese urethane-coated terry, and a 3-layer bonded jersey Fishtail Parka ($560), inspired by the Canadian winter.Set your calendar because all of the items will be available at their store location (133 West 5th Avenue, Vancouver BC) and online starting December 13th at 11 am PST.

The Cicret Bracelet ($TBA) allows you to interact with a projected image of an android interface right on your arm.The bracelet is made up of a pico projector, a row of proximity sensors, an accelerometer and a vibration module. 16 and 32 GB are expected for storage options. It connects to the internet via wifi, bluetooth, and a mUSB port.A twist of your wrist activates the projector which allows you to do most of the things you can do on your smartphone like reading emails, browsing the web, and playing games.Right now the makers of Cicret are trying to raise enough funds to make it a reality. They expect the first prototype to by ready in the next few months.
