So the question is - How hard is it for the average citizen to stop a mass shooting with a handgun? With the latest spate of mass shootings and terroristic acts, comes the usual rhetoric of politicians on both sides of the gun debate. One of the easier recognizable lines is "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
That's where Comedy Central comes in. Working with the guys from A.L.E.R.T. (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) Jordan Klepper goes through eight hours of training to receive his permit to carry a concealed weapon. He is then put through active shooter scenarios to test the "Good Guy With A Gun Hypothesis". The video is both entertaining and informative.
If you're sick of warm beer ruining a great summer's day, then the Corkcicle Arctican ($20) is a must. Forget all about those foam rubber Koozies that really don't do anything. The Arctican will keep your drinks cold without making your hands cold. Two layers of vacuum insulated stainless steel keeps the heat out and the cold in, but the Arctican has one more trick up its sleeve. The Twist-On cooling core is filled with a proprietary freezing gel, that keeps drinks cooler longer. How long? It will keep your drinks cold for up to 3 hours. In three hours, you should be able to put a nice dent in that case.
Put a little originality into your next beach outing. The Matt Singer Indigo Beach Blankets ($90) are block printed and dyed with indigo, which results in a lightweight, super soft cotton blanket. Because of the printing technique, you'll be getting a unique design, no two pieces are exactly alike. Each blanket is made handmade in India and measures 98" x 43".
If Out of the Furnace ($TBA) ends up being as good as its trailer you can chalk it up for an Oscar nod. Christian Bale plays a guy in a dead-end blue collar job at the local steel mill, he tries as best he can to do everything right but ends up doing time. We he returns home years later he finds his younger brother (Casey Affleck) has been lured into the underground world of street fighting and has just disappeared.
