The new NASA Mars Rover Concept Vehicle ($NFS) looks like it came out of the latest post-apocalyptic Mad Max flick. This futuristic concept was recently unveiled at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. They wanted to use it to inspire and educate as NASA gets closer to actually reaching their goals of sending people to the red planet. This concept operates on a 700-volt battery powered by solar panels. The cool part is that it splits in the middle of the chassis. Where the front is designed for scouting with radio and navigation equipment. The rear section acts as a laboratory which can also disconnect for autonomous research.
Kickstarter keeps coming out with minimalist wallets and I swear they keep getting better and better. The Asset Minimalist Wallet With NFC Technology ($25) is the latest to be released and it comes with a bevy of features. The Asset Wallet is made from two ultra thin aluminum 6061 grade plates held together a with highly durable elastic band. The plates are RFID-resistant and don't rust. But that's not all, it also comes with two NFC cards, that enable you to transfer information between two devices by tapping them together. So for example, you can program one chip to hold your personal or business info and the other to launch any one of your social profiles. Right now NFC works with Android, Windows or Blackberry phones, but here's hoping iPhone includes it with their next iPhone release.
This USA made Carbon Fiber & Kevlar Motorcycle Helmet, from Get Lost Helmets ($190) is for those that like their melon protectors stylish and comfortable. Though not DOT-Rated it can withstand getting run over by a truck. So it's still pretty darn protective but not one for the racers. The inner liner uses the same foam in NASA helmets. Providing the ultimate in comfort and protection with a quick release strap for ease of use. Hog the road in style this season with this beautiful german-styled helmet!
Our moto is if you're going to touch it everyday, buy the best. The Shinola Signature Briefcase ($950) is the epítome of that moto. Designed at their Detroit studio and handmade in the U.S. from genuine Horween Essex leather, the bag features gunmetal finished solid brass hardware, an adjustable leather strap, two canvas lined zipper compartments, and multiple interior pockets, which include a spacious interior zippered compartment and a phone pocket. This is a bag which will likely become a family heirloom.
Just before the New York International Auto show, Lincoln has released a Lincoln Navigator SUV Concept ($TBA) that features a nautical design which makes you wish you had a beach house. The outside of the concept is a vast improvement over the current model replacing a boxy look with a more rounded modern feel. Instead of the standard four doors, it comes with two massive gullwing doors and automatic triple step running boards. When you lift the hood, you'll find a 400 horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. For my tastes, I would've preferred to see a V8 at the minimum. On the inside, the first thing you'll notice is a widescreen display for every seat including the rear row. Additional features include park assist, active safety features, and an intercom system. If Lincoln can up the engine power a bit, they may have a winner on their hands.
