The Leica V-LUX 4 ($899) may look like a DSLR but it's the latest point-and-shoot from Leica with and extreme zoom. The V-LUX 4 has a 24x optical zoom with f/2.8 aperture that gives you a 35mm focal length equivalent of 25-600mm. This gives you the ability to use a faster shutter speed so you can shoot in lower light with long focal lengths. Additional features include a 12.1 megapixel 1/2.3" CMOS Sensor, 3" LCD, 1.3 megapixel electronic viewfinder, and HD 1080 AVCHD and MP4 video.
The Art of Fixing Things ($11) is the must read book before you even bother opening the cover of any other 'how-to' guide to repairing household appliances, cars, farm equipment, garden machines or doing any kind of home improvements. It is THE resource for those smart people who have, as yet, never had the chance to learn the basics of tool use, repairs and maintenance. It contains stacks of useful information that you will not find in any other publication and is also the first new book on this subject in many a year. Written by a third generation member of a family of reliant, do it yourself folks, loads of these 150 tricks and tips come from a time when we always repaired our own possessions rather than trashing them and replacing them. A great book that everyone should read.
As we’ve stated previously, creating a beautifully customized bike is like painting a work of art. It’s part mechanical / technical prowess and part art. ER motorcycles, a young Slovenian company that takes previously owned motorcycles and turns them into works of art, is a full representation of that ethos. (more…)

This vehicle is definitely going on my wish list. The Watercar ($TBA) brags that it is the fastest amphibious vehicle available. It's based on a Jeep CJ8, with a Honda 3.7-liter v6 under the hood. For getting around in the water, it uses a Panther Jet propulsion system. On land you can reach speeds of 80 mph and 40+ mph in the water. There's a lot of customization that goes into creating one of these, so get in contact with Watercar for additional details.
