Most audiophiles know the more rigid the speaker case, the less resonance you get, leading to a neutral sound that replicates the audio as the artist intended. The Master & Dynamic MA770 ($3600/pr) takes this concept all the way with a case that's built from a hand finished concrete composite. But you need more than a 35 lb case made out of concrete for great sound. You need great drivers. Each speaker features two 4" woven Kevlar long throw woofers and a 1.5" titanium tweeter which are tuned to provide the best sound available. Additional features include a 100 watt class d amplifier, a magnetically attached stainless steel grille, built-in 4.1 Bluetooth connectivity, and auxiliary analog and optical inputs. Overall measurements are 16 x 20 x 10 inches.
The Casio G-Shock Premium GW-A1000-1AER Watch ($520) is the G-Shock for grown-ups. This GW-A1000 model features a quartz movement, large 52mm case, and water-resistance to 20 ATM. Some of the coolest features are its solar powered radio signal reception (Europe, Japan, China, United States) and extreme shock resistance due to impacts, vibrations, and g-forces. It also keeps 12 or 24 hour time, has automatic hand adjustments for different time zones, an automatic calendar, thermometer, and chronometer. Basically everything including the kitchen sink.
The Yamaha SR400 Long Tracker by Deus Ex Machina ($TBA) is the companies latest build. The bike features an extended swing arm with a rear Ikon suspension. Additional customizations include an alloy tank, Nitro Heads seat, rear hugger, and a through exhaust. Each of these bikes is made to order and would make a great addition to any garage.
The Victorinox Cybertool Lite Multi-Tool ($116) has 36 tools for the computer geek in all of us. This multi-tool includes unique features like an LED light, magnifying glass, bit wrench, hex bits, torx bits, wire crimper and much more. The Cybertool is finished off in ruby transparent sides and will make a great addition to any EDC kit.
The Mokai Jet Propelled Kayak ($4,800) allows you go anywhere a regular kayak can go, plus much further. Whether you're into fishing, hunting or just looking to explore the Mokai can take you there. It comes with a Subaru EX21 four-stroke engine with Mokai's proprietary jet drive technology. What this means is the kayak uses jet propulsion and not a standard propeller so shallow water is not an issue and neither is injury due to a prop strike. The Mokai fits two and can be used in salt or fresh water environments.
When I first saw the Lazareth Wazuma V8F Matte Edition ($280,000) I had no idea what I was looking at. It's like this futuristic death machine. The only thing I knew was that it was love at first sight. The quads name sake is Ludivic Lazareth, the founder of the company. He made his name by customizing Yamaha VMAX motorcycles and through his pension of designing his projects through the hands-on use of materials and not through computers like the majority of the industry. Go big or stay home would be the perfect moto for Lazareth. The specs of the special edition Wazuma are as crazy as this thing looks. First of the engine is a 3.0 liter Ferrari V8 with a BMW M3 transmission. This setup has 250 horses, weighs 1433 pounds, while shifting is managed by push buttons on the handlebars. Smart move, considering the speeds this thing reaches, it's probably best to cut out as much distraction as possible. Additional specs include Momo wheels all around (285-30ZR18's for the front and 315-30r18's for the rear), 12.5" Bremo brake calipers, and Sybelle engine management. (more…)
