Here's another badass ride making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003 ($2.3M) is a built-from-scratch supercar that comes in two versions. The SCG003C is track only and the SCG003S is for you road warriors. We don't yet have any details on the track version, but the "S" will have a range of available engines with the top of the line being a twin-turbocharged V-12. SCG isn't giving split times, but they do say the power to weight ratio will rival the Koenigsegg One's one hp to every 2.2 pounds of weight.
If there was just one experiment you should be trying with friends in the scorching summer it has to be Ben & Jerry's delicious new invention. This dreamy concoction, New Belgium Beer X Benn & Jerry's ($TBA) is a collaboration between brewery giants New Belgium and Ben & Jerry's, the team effort comes as part of a special project in connection with Protect Our Winters to help raise awareness surrounding climate change. Whilst a lot of the details are still under wraps news has leaked that the moreish sounding Ben & Jerry’s Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale Beer will come in at 6.3% and feature a mouth-watering chocolate, salted-caramel and vanilla flavor. Released this fall, it's time to book the experience into your diary now!
I love the way certain brands are reinterpreted in typically non-related industries. Walt Siegl has done an excellent job interpreting Puma's brand into an awesome Walt Siegl X Puma Ducati 900 SS ($TBA). The original bike was a 1993 Ducati SS. The bikes 989 cc engine was reused and updated with new pistons, valves and belts. The body is made from kevlar-carbon and the exhaust is stainless steel with an Italian Mivv muffler. The gold, red white and blue palette finishes off this wonderful work of art.(more…)
The Art of Fixing Things ($11) is the must read book before you even bother opening the cover of any other 'how-to' guide to repairing household appliances, cars, farm equipment, garden machines or doing any kind of home improvements. It is THE resource for those smart people who have, as yet, never had the chance to learn the basics of tool use, repairs and maintenance. It contains stacks of useful information that you will not find in any other publication and is also the first new book on this subject in many a year. Written by a third generation member of a family of reliant, do it yourself folks, loads of these 150 tricks and tips come from a time when we always repaired our own possessions rather than trashing them and replacing them. A great book that everyone should read.
Cafe Racer Dreams recently build this stripped down machine for a custom job from their Madrid-based shop. The CRD #58 BMW R100 By Cafe Racer Dreams ($CALL) replaced the stock fuel tank, with one from a 1972 Puch Minicross. The subframe was also replaced, with an updated single seat configuration. Additional upgrades include a custom-made seat, with LED tail light built into it, a Motogadget m-Unit, K&N filters in place of the standard air box, and numerous parts from their online store, including the headlight and muffler. The whole kit is finished off with a paint job in white, blue and red stripes and traditional roundels which give a nod to BMW's motorsports iconic liveries. If you want one for yourself, give the guys a call and they'll find a way to get you your very own.
The Pacific Rim Movie ($TBA) looks pretty cool. It's about a future Earth where a monster comes from the ocean depths and attacks Osaka, Japan. We find out the monster comes from a portal, to another world that, is five miles below the ocean. The problem is that it is spitting out monster after monster, and they are attacking coastal cities around the world. In order to fight them the military creates the "Jaeger" program. Pilots in the program operate building sized robots to try and combat the monsters. Pacific Rim is directed by Guillermo Del Toro and is expected to be released on July 12th.http://youtu.be/zA92Rw6kNWw
