Once upon a time a caveman picked up a rock and proceeded to chuck it at someone or something. A History of Weapons ($14) began at that moment. John O'Bryan is a respected comedy writer and self described weapons nerd who relays to us through A History Of Weapons the often freaky highlights of the obsession man has had with weaponry for centuries. In this laugh out loud book he explains the weapons, the history of them, their main uses and also their bad ass potential. Those who used these weapons are also here from Genghis Khan to Attila the Hun to those peaceful souls the Shaolin monks.
The Fern & Roby Cube Speakers ($1650) are the brand's flagship speaker. Fern & Roby are known for working with reclaimed wood for much of their product line and the Cubes are no exception. The speakers are machined from a solid beam of 100-year-old heart pine salvaged from a late 19th-century Virginia factory. Working with audio engineers they created the perfect enclosure giving it the best response possible for its class. The drivers used in these speakers are a pair of Alpair 7 Gold by MarkAudio. They're known for their near flat response and their excellent response frequency of 40-Hz to 32 -kHz. As with most speakers, at will take them about 100 hours of play time to reach their full potential.
