Eric Schlosser, the renowned investigative journalist has dug deep to discover secrets about how America's nuclear arsenal is actually managed. Command & Control ($20) is a ground breaking and at times disturbing account of near misses, accidents, supreme heroism and major technological breakthroughs, this book explores the dilemma that has been in existence since the nuclear age dawned; how exactly do you deploy WMD's, weapons of mass destruction, without actually being destroyed by them yourselves? This question has never been resolved, we don't know if it ever will, but one thing is for certain; Schlosser and revealed how the lethal combination of technological complexity and human fallibility still poses a very grave threat to mankind.
I really hope this movie is good because the book series by Stephen King is incredible. If you've never heard of The Dark Tower ($TBA), then a little background is needed. Starting in 1982 Stephen King released a series of eight books. The final book was completed in 2012. The story was actually completed after the seventh book "The Dark Tower" and the last book takes place between books four and five. The Gunslinger (1982) The Drawing of the Three (1987) The Waste Lands (1991) Wizard and Glass (1997) Wolves of the Calla (2003) Song of Susannah (2004) The Dark Tower (2004) The Wind Through the Keyhole (2012)The story was inspired by Robert Browning's poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came". It's about Roland Deschain. He is the last living member of a group known as Gunslingers. His world looks similar to the old west but also include magical characteristics. His world is dying. The magic is disappearing as well as many of the technological advances. Nations are being torn apart, cities are vanishing and time is no longer flowing in a predictable manner. The pattern of the sun is even no longer predictable. The series documents Roland's quest to find the Dark Tower. A building that is said to be the center of all universes. He must find the tower to keep his world and all worlds from moving on.The movie stars Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black, Katheryn Winnick as Laurie Chambers, Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers and Idris Elba as The Gunslinger. The Dark Tower drops on August 4th. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Famous for its muscle cars the American car manufacturer Chevrolet is soon going to be making a name for its self in the 4x4 market. The new Chevrolet Colorado Xtreme ($TBA) was unveiled at the Bangkok International Motor Show and is a true beauty. Information on all the specs are sparse at the moment and cars can change from their first showroom appearances but let’s hope this aggressive and powerful design stays similar to the concept. So far this 4x4 features a hood scoop, engine intake snorkel, bolt wheels and a light bar and is sure going to be a strong contender for the king of 4x4’s.

Mies Van Der Rohe may not be a name that rolls off the tongue but he was a designer who was pivotal in the modernist movement of furniture design and his most iconic collection was unquestionably the Barcelona series, which he designed for the 1929 World Expedition in, you guessed it, Barcelona. Boasting the sort of timeless, luxuriously style that the likes of Don Draper would certainly approve of, the Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona Chair ($800) is definitely the ideal choice of seating for a man-cave, where you want to relax with a scotch on the rocks and ruminate your man thoughts.
