Would you expect anything less from the Italians? The Ciclotte Exercise Bike ($10,600-$12,000) is more of a minimalistic work of art than a piece of exercise equipment. One of the biggest features is the Epicycloid transmission. It was trademarked by Ciclotte and features a dual satellite epicycloid system that multiplies the number of flywheel rotations which creates a high-intensity magnetic field. This system perfectly replicates the effort of pushing on pedals when your riding on the road. It also has a touch screen display that allows you to set 12 levels of resistance and a transmission that can be unhooked to increase or decrease resistance while pedaling. Incredible bike to say the least, but for 10 large I'd be looking at a used jeep and use the leftover for p90x.
The original Blade Runner was a beautifully dark look at the possible future relationships between humans and robots. It took place in 2019 where robots, called replicants, had become indistinguishable from humans and had a penchant for violence. Because of their advancements, they were only allowed to operate on colonies in space. In the movie, Harrison Ford played a Blade Runner, a specialized police officer charged with hunting down and eliminating any Replicants who made it to earth. In the 2017 reboot, Blade Runner 2049 ($TBA), Harrison Ford is joined by Ryan Gossling who plays a modern day Blade Runner. Other cast notables include Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto, and Edward James Olmos. Blade Runner 2049 will be hitting theaters on Oct 6, 2017.
This has to be one of the coolest uses for a 3D printer that I've seen. Theo Jansen is a Dutch artist who is known for creating gigantic creatures out of PVC that can walk on their own. He's taken the same structures, shrunk them down, and 3D printed them to create the 3D Printed Strandbeests ($56-$113). There are four of these creatures available in various sizes which your can purchase from Shapeways. There are also two propeller kits available, and when attached they allow your Strandbeest to move with a little air from your mouth, fan, or blower. Check out the video below the features both the full-sized and miniature Strandbeests.
The NanoLeaf LED LIGHT Bulb ($35) is touted as the world's most energy efficient light bulb. The NanoLeaf utilizes LED lights with modern, efficient design to create a light bulb that provides natural light at a fraction of the power consumption of standard light bulbs. It can fit in any traditional light bulb socket, provides true omni-directional (360 degree) light output, and is completely mercury and lead free.
They brought in the best team there is to reimagine a tired and beaten up old Ducati 1000s and ended up turing it into an awesome Custom Ducati X Digital Directiv ($CALL). It got one seriously badass overhaul! With a host of modern upgrades we can confirm that literally no expense was spared but don’t expect to be seeing any hint of carbon fiber, as it had to remain a timeless classic. A hand sewn seat, digital dash, iPhone compatible Bluetooth and performance parts all come together to create an absolute two-wheeled masterpiece that is completely unique. But if you think that’s it though you’d be very wrong as the integrated Bluetooth system can sense your approach and automatically turns on or off as needed, genius! This fantastic modern classic is sure to be a hit with Ducati and vintage bike fans alike; I mean how could this beautiful piece not?
