The Summer of Beer and Whiskey ($20) is about Chris von der Ahe who knew so little about baseball it could be written on a postage stamp, yet his risked his life savings in order to found a franchise that would grow into the St Louis Cardinals. Despite this, the German born proprietor of a beer garden became one of the funniest and most important figures in the history of the game. Von der Ahe bought the team for one reason only; in order to sell more beer. He then played a part in gathering together a bunch of ragtag professional clubs in order to create a new, maverick league to mount a challenge to the haughty National League, this reinventing big league baseball that would appeal to and attract all classes of Americans. Then he helped gather a group of ragtag professional clubs together to create a maverick new league that would fight the haughty National League, reinventing big-league baseball to attract Americans of all classes. Sneered at as "The Beer and Whiskey Circuit" because it was backed by brewers, distillers, and saloon owners, their American Association brought Americans back to enjoying baseball by offering Sunday games, beer at the ballpark, and a dirt-cheap ticket price of 25 cents.

Johnny Manziel kicked butt in his pro day yesterday. He arrived in shoulder pads and helmet and showed that he had arm strength and could throw accurately in gear. But more than his actual workout his outfit was getting a lot of comments. Johnny was wearing a matte black helmet, shoulder pads, black jersey, grey camo shorts with A$AP's unedited "Work" remix blasting in the background. It took a lot of balls considering he had presidents and senators at his workout. All of his gear was Nike and as soon as it was all over Nike, being the marketing geniuses they are, threw up a Johnny Manziel Pro Day Nike Gear ($30-$150) page. Now the only question is if Houston is going to take him as their first pick. If they don't they may live to regret it.

Based out of Stockholm Note is a design studio that works in the fields of architecture, interiors, products, graphic design and design strategy. They've come up with a concept for the urban bike rack that beautifully mixes minimalism and maximalism. The Hook Bicycle Stand ($TBA) is unobtrusive but made from a broad band of metal which gives it substance. Can't wait for these to be available so I can throw a couple in my garage.
The Circuit Scribe Rollerball Pen ($30) is a Muted backed project. We put our money on projects that we believe take their industries to the next level. The Circuit Scribe is one of those projects. It allows you to instantly create electrical circuits with the ease of using a pen. Compared to their competitors this is the easiest, most convenient circuit pen available; there's no shaking, squeezing, toxicity, and you don't have to wait for it to dry. Simply draw your circuit. To make things even easier, they've even created a series of electronic components that snap directly to the drawn circuits as long as you have magnets behind them.Their basic kickstarter kit includes 2 LED boards, 2 coin batteries, a 2 pin board so you can add resistors, capacitors, switches and other components, a 9v battery connector, a BJT NPN Transistor, and jumper stickers. So whether you're a teacher, an artist, a kid or a life hacker the Circuit Scribe Rollerball Pen will make an incredible gift.
