Diner ($4), written and directed by Barry Levinson is the classic coming of age story where you get to see great talents in the early stages of their careers. Diner stars Steve Guttenberg, Mickey Rourke, Tim Daly, Ellen Barkin, Paul Reiser, and Kevin Bacon. It takes place in 1959 and follows a group of friends who are struggling with their impending passage from childhood into adulthood, like Boogie (Mickey Rourke) who works in a beauty salon and studies to be a lawyer at night. Diner is a great dialogue driven movie. One of the best scenes is when Eddie (Steve Guttenberg) makes his wife take a football test before they can get married. Check it out the scene after the break.
Just like the movie Minority Report, the Gest Motion Control Glove ($199) allows you to control your digital environment with your hands. When using your computer you can switch between apps with a twitch of a finger, move the mouse cursor by pointing at the screen, or move a 3d object by grabbing it and rotating. Gest is so versatile you can even program custom gestures. Everyone does things a little bit differently so the more you use Gest, the better it gets at understanding how you perform common gestures. Right now they have a Kickstarter campaign going on, so check it out.
The Surefire Outdoorsman EL1 ($220) is a flawlessly engineered light that would make a great addition to any EDC arsenal. This light is built like a tank for the military and first responders. The EL1 features a two-stage LED light that is twice as bright as a two-D-cell flashlight, weight just 2.7 ounces, and measures 4x1x1 inches. The EL1 could easily be the last light you ever need.
The New Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Trailer ($TBA) has been released and it looks like a winner. The new movie takes place approximately 10 years after the last movie left off. The world has been devastated by a virus engineered by James Franco's character, Dr. Will Rodman, in the first movie. A group of scientists that survived the epidemic and are struggling to stay alive have reached a peace with the genetically enhanced apes, but it is short-lived and war becomes inevitable. The new movie stars Jason Clarke and Gary Oldman and will hit theaters on May 14th 2014.http://youtu.be/h_9-3Fj3ZdI
