This great book Eat Your Vegetables ($17) was named as one of the best cookbooks of last year by The Boston Globe, The Atlantic and NPR's "Here and Now"! This is a fab collection of both vegan and vegetarian recipes for singles, those veggie lovers living in carnivorous households, couples seeking creative sides and anyone hankering after some plant based, smaller portion recipes. These all come courtesy of Joe Yonan, the must loved editor of The Washington Post and the author of Serve Yourself. Most people at some time will have faced the frustrations of trying to plan, shop and cook wonderfully tasty vegetarian and vegan meals for one, two or a small group. This a fab volume that should be on the shelf of every kitchen.
Sprout | A Pencil That Grows ($20) is a very simple but excellent concept. We all know that as soon as a pencil gets down to the point where there's only an inch or so left it's pretty much useless. The Sprout lets you put that little stub to get use. The end of the Sprout has a seed capsule that is water activated, after you plant your pencil and water it a few times the capsule dissolves and the seed's start germinating. The plants usually take about a week to sprout. The Sprout pencils come in a number of varieties including vegetables, herbs and flowers like rosemary, tomato, marigold, and many more.
The Iikone Coffee Brewer ($700) takes pourover coffee making and turns it into an art form. The soon to be released coffee maker is the very first with a completely unobstructed filter. This single improvement creates an undisturbed brewing process that makes use of the entire filtering surface. The result is a cup of coffee that has few nonsoluble particles in the cup, is more complex and less bitter than its classic counterparts. The brewer is made entirely of high gloss medical-grade stainless steel, that is CNC cut and polished. Just use standard 6-10 cup found or rectangular filters along with a conical metal filter and you're good to go.Related: How To Make The Perfect Cup Of Coffee
Hard Graft has released another great case for your iPhone. The Hard Graft Draw iPhone Case and Stand ($82) is made from premium vegetable tanned hand-stained Italian leather. Over time the vegetable leather will darken providing your case with a warm tone and its own character. A grey pull rope does double duty by securing your phone in the case when not in use and acting as a stand so you can use your phone as a clock or music player. And of course the case is lined with Hard Graft's 100% wool to protect against dust and scratches.(more…)
We're reaching the point in history where if you can dream it you can make it. The Appseed ($8+) is just another step in that evolution. Simply put, the program turns sketches of apps into working prototypes. It works by capturing the sketched design, and identifying enclosed areas. Those areas can then be assigned a UI property such as buttons, maps, text inputs, etc. This would be great for developers who need to show clients quick mockups, for clients who want to take their app to developers for quotes, or anyone who just wants to mockup that next great idea.
THE DUDE ABIDES...AND NOW YOU CAN TOO! If you are seeking salvation from what this uptight, stressed out world is throwing at you there is only one man to seek guidance from; the Dude. The Abide Guide ($11), much like The Big Lebowski himself, is funny, profound and above all helpful. It is a survival guide strait from those who founded the Church of the Latter-Day Dude and they, along with their top disciples, show the way to becoming almost as Dude-like as the Dude himself. Learn the ethos on which this church is based and next time life decides to chuck as gutterball at you stop, pick up this book, and see what the Dude would do.
