I view people who customize bikes more as artists than mechanics. It's fascinating to see the works of art they're able to create from metal and sweat. Revival is the cultural center for motorcycle enthusiasts in Austin, Texas. They create beautiful expressions of purpose and form. The customized Ducati SportClassic by Revival ($TBA) is their latest creation. The bike features a customized alloy tank, tail section, fenders, mounts, exhaust and much more. It also has a nickel-plated frame and swingarm, LED lighting on the front and rear, and a full Ohlins suspension. The wheels are carbon fiber Alpina Wheels with racing rain tires. The handmade leather seat by New Church Moto finishes off this beautiful piece. (more…)
If you're looking to build a summer beach house, then this Seascape Retreat in New Zealand ($NFS) is the model you want to base it on. Pattersons Associates Architects is a New Zealand studio started in 1986 whose first works consisted of building lodgings along New Zealand's unspoiled coasts. Their mantra is quite simple:
If a building can feel like it naturally ‘belongs’, or fits logically in a place, to an environment, a time and culture, then the people that inhabit the building will likely feel a sense of belonging there as well. The Seascape Retreat fits this methodology perfectly. Starting off with an amazing location set into a rock escarpment in a South Pacific cove. Created as a honeymoon retreat for paying guests, it consists of just three rooms; a lobby, living/sleeping room, and a bathroom. To make the cottage feel like it belongs amongst its surroundings, it was built from all local materials made up of rock, poured concrete floors and an earth turfed roof. It is also self-sustaining with on-site water harvesting and wastewater treatment.[gallery type="rectangular" time="false" bullets="true" ids="21993,21992,21991,21864,21863"]
Navdy ($300) is a portable heads-up display you put on your dashboard. It projects an image on a transparent screen in your field of view. The image looks like its 6 feet in front of you so you never have to take your focus off of the road. the Navdy connects to either Android or IOS phones and it comes with its own apps as well. One of the really cool things is that you don't have to pick up your phone to control the device. Navdy can be controlled by hand gestures and your voice. So a swipe left can answer a call or a swipe right can ignore.
These Vintage Vespa Scooter Chair ($CALL) are as cool, stylish and vintage as the scooters that were used to make them. They have been up-cycled from part of the original 80’s Italian scooter, including the chassis. Each Vespa Scooters swivel chair is handmade and unique with its own series number. It also reclines for your comfort. It features a reinforced internal structure and the height can be adjusted depending on your comfort preferences. It has been ergonomically designed and includes imitation leather upholstered for added comfort and style. This chair is a great gift or feature for the home of a Vespa enthusiast and is a wonderful way to celebrate this iconic scooter.
