"Chambong Industries is a new Seattle, Washington-based start-up, leading the way in new sparkling wine consumption innovations." Their mission statement means they've created the perfect bong made specifically for champagne. They sent me a product sample and to be honest, I don't drink champagne, but I do have plenty of beer on hand. Close enough right. On their website they say the Chambong ($25) holds about 4 ounces of liquid. I was able to get a full can of beer down in two shots. So how does it feel you ask. My frame of reference comes from doing beer bongs out of a funnel with a 6-foot tube in college. I was the knucklehead with beer spraying out fo the side of his mouth. The Chambong is much more refined. Once you pour your beer in and put it in your mouth, you notice slight pressure, but enough to get your pour down in one fell swoop. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience. I could see the Chambong creating a fun party experience. Next time I have guests over, everyone is doing a Chambong. I might even buy some champagne.

The New Balance just released their New Balance 574 "Sonic & Clarity" ($120) and they definitely a departure from their standard looks. The updated 574s are related to the new 1500's which incorporate sonic welding construction. The Clarity part of the name probably comes from the muted colorways in the collection. The iconic off-road running shoe also gets some modern updates making it more durable and lightweight when compared to its predecessors. Right now they're only available from Japan, but we'll let you know if they make it to the states.
Electronic waste is one of the largest growing issues world-wide and cellphones are one of the biggest contributors to this problem. Phonebloks ($TBA) is a project by Dave Hakkens that looks to alleviate this issue. The idea behind Phonebloks is a phone made from detachable blocks. Whenever a block becomes damaged or outdated it can be replaced while keeping the rest of the phone, making for an extremely environmentally friendly customizable phone that you never have to throw away. For example, if you love photography then you can opt for a bigger camera, if you like physical buttons then you can replace the full touch screen for a smaller screen with buttons. The configurations are endless.Right now this is just an idea and to get traction Dave is initiating a crowdspeak. By joining Thunderclap you will be donating your social reach to the October 29th blast geared towards getting the right companies and people involved in this project. A project like Phonebloks is way over due and outside of its positive environmental impact, it will create a vast number of vertical industries and jobs. Join Thundercap today.
