Grab a piece of history with this amazing truck. This 2010 Toyota Tacoma Polar Expedition Truck ($65,500) set the land speed record across the Antarctic ice cap. Jason De Carteret used the “Polar” to break two Guinness records while crossing the ice cap from Patriot Hills to the South Pole and back. The project was sponsored by Thomson Reuters and the Discovery Channel. You can read more about it here.
The “Polar” was built to handle extreme temperatures while still being able to handle daily life and get the groceries. Under the hood, it has a stand 4L V6 that was supercharged by Toyota Racing to push it to 341 horses. The suspension and undercarriage were built by Marconi and features custom prop shafts and separate locking front and rear air differentials. You can read the rest of the specs at the auction on eBay.
