Axiom wants to democratize camera technology by creating the Axiom Beta: The First Open Digital Cinema Camera ($2600) is intended to provide fully open documentation, complete upgradability, and the ability to change the behavior of existing features. Their new Indiegogo campaign will give supporters the choice between two sensor modules. The Truesense KAC12040 and the Cmosis CMV12000. The Truesense is a 4/3″ with a 4000 x 3000 resolution and a 70 maximum frame rate of 70 FPS. While the Cmosis is a Super35/APS0C with a 4096 x 3072 resolution and a maximum frame rate of 300 FPS.
The Fujifilm XE-2 ($999) is the latest in the lineup of MILC’s (mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras) coming out this fall.
