Before we get started some of the options below are made in Europe. Please see the conversion chart above to adjust between European and American sizes:
The Buddy Bull Terrier Chubby White Sneaker Buddy Bull Terrier Chubby White Sneakers ($243) is a great premium sneaker. The Upper is made from a nice cow leather. While the lining contains both cow leather and Cambrelle. The whole kit sits on a natural rubber outsole. Additional features include a vegetable tanned leather patch, and a leather pull tab on the heel. Made in Japan.
The KOIO Capri Nuvola White Men’s Sneaker ($248) is one of my favorites on the list. It has everything you’d want in a premium tennis shoe. KOIO made the shoe from buttery Vitello leather and Camoscio suede accents at the heel. Vitello leather has a smooth feel and excellent durability. This sneaker isn’t a pure white, a subtle beige tone. The Nuvola is hand made in the Marche region of Italy. Hence the premium price. The interior of the shoe features a buttery-soft Italian calf leather. The whole kit sits on Margom outsoles known for the durable, lightweight rubber. They overlooke no details. Even the edges are hand painted.
If you looking for a shoe that can go from a chill weekend at home to a more formal look, The Filippa K Morgan Low Sneaker White Men’s Sneaker ($250) fit the bill perfectly. Filippa made this classic low top from tumbled Nappa cow leather. They include suede details, a calf leather lining, and a natural rubber sole in the design as well. Made in Italy.
Looking for a great American made shoe? Look no further than the Rancourt Court Classic Low White Sneakers ($260). The Weston full-grain cowhide upper is fully lined with Horweens Casco horsehide lining. The upper sits on a beautiful Vibram Strighton outsole. Additional features include waxed cotton laces, solid brass eyelets, and a molded latex rubber footbed.
Made in France, the Zespa ZSP4 Apla White Sneaker ($299) is a top of the line sneaker. It features butter-soft leather uppers, and a clean silhouette, finished off with tonal tongue and heel decals. Additional features include gold foil branding, and leather lining.
If you’ve started your journey (more like an addiction) with classic white kicks, then you’ve undoubtedly heard of Common Projects. The Common Projects Achilles Lows White Sneakers ($359) is the standard bearer for this silhouette. This may not be the first shoe you buy but it’s one you’ll definitely what to add to your arsenal eventually. The classic Achilles is hand made in Italy. It features a luxury leather construction, complete with a leather lining and insole. The famous gold foil style code identifies each pair’s color, code, and size. The whole kit sits on a tonal rubber sole unit.
The C.QP All White Men’s Sneaker ($360) isn’t cheap. But that’s to be expected with the detailing they’ve included in this shoe. They designed this sneaker in Sweden, and hand made it in Portugal. It features a 100% Italian leather quarter top upper with a white calf leather inner lining. As far as support they included a removable inner sole. The sole sits on a footbed with arch support, several layers of cushioning, and a metal shank for stability. These beautiful sneakers arrive with two sets of waxed cotton laces, a custom tote bag, and a grey C.QP box.
The Vor 1a Nebelweiss White Sneakers ($404) are another great sneaker in our designer section. They’re made in Germany. And features a premium, off-white full grain leather upper. Off course they have a beautiful calfskin leather lining. Additional features include tonal laces and a solid light grey rubber sole. Fre shipping worldwide.
There isn’t much detail on the Maison Margiela Low-Top Ace White Men’s Sneakers ($545). For a sneaker that hits the top of the price point, I would expect more information. They do describe the upper as being made from calfskin leather, contrasting shoelaces, and rubber soles.
I’ve saved the best for last. The Feit Hand Sewn Low Semi Cordovan Sneakers ($600) are the most expensive shoes on our list. But as your read through the description you’ll understand why. What you’ll need to decide for yourself is are they worth it.
The FEIT Cordovan Sneakers are a hand Sewn version of the classic court sneaker. They feature FEIT’s advanced Goodyear construction, all natural materials, and unlined raw edges.
Cordovan leather is made from the buttocks part of the horse skin. FEIT uses the entire skin so they call it “semi-cordovan.” The leather is tanned slowly, nourished with natural oils, and shaved.
The use of this highly luxurious and elevated skin allows the foot to breathe and, because it is much softer, does not require breaking in.
All FEIT shoes are made from start to finish by one master craftsman. The one-piece upper is sewn by hand directly to the midsole. A cork footbed and a bamboo shank stabilizer are added. Then the leather outsole is cemented to the midsole using a natural, water-based glue. They refer to this process as a modified hand-sewn Goodyear construction. Goodyear construction ensures all FEIT shoes can be resoled.
If you skate, you probably have a pair of Vans. The Vans Old Skool True White Sneakers ($68) is first up on our list of budget white sneakers. The kicks feature canvas and leather uppers with re-enforced toecaps. If you’re taking spills those toe caps come in handy. Additional features include rubber waffle outsoles, and padded collars for comfort.
You can’t beat the price of these Batius White Leather Sneakers ($72). The silhouette of the Batius has been beautifully executed. With this shoe you get a leather upper, with a leather lining, all sitting on a rubber sole for just 72 bucks.
If you’re looking for your first pair of white sneaker, the Adidas Stan Smith Triple Whites ($90) should be your first purchase. When you talk about classics, these are the king of the heel. Normally, these guys come with a colored (blue, black, red, green) heel. But these are super clean. White soles, white uppers, white logos. Features include a perforated leather upper, pimpled outsole for grip, and a synthetic lining. I do own a pair of these and one of the issues I have is the tongue feels a little long for my taste.
Even though the Veja Esplar Low Leather White Sneakers ($120) are only about 8 years old, they are still a great budget option. The shoes are named after the Brazilian NGO and have some nice features. These include a leather upper, with suede accent panels, an organic cotton lining, and a sole made from wild rubber from the Amazonian forest.
This is another pair of white sneakers I own. The Beckett Simonon Reid Low White Sneakers ($149) are a super minimalist sneaker, that can easily go with super casual outfits or dress down a suit. What’s crazy about these sneakers is the fact they’re handmade. A handmade shoe for under $300 is simply amazing. Features include a full grain leather upper with a full leather lining for breathability. Durable side stitched construction, and removable cushioned inserts finish these great sneakers off nicely.
The JAK Royal White Men’s Sneakers ($167) are another sneakers in our budget section that’s handcrafted. These minimalist kicks feature a full grain leather upper, lined with natural calfskin. Everything sits on a plain rubber cup sole with a shock proof innersole. Also included are white cotton laces, and a JAK cotton bag.
If you’ve been anywhere near the internet you’ve heard of Greats brand sneakers. The Greats Royale Blanco White Men’s Sneaker ($169) is their all-white offering with a slightly different styling from our other offerings. A don’t let the price fool you. These shoes have a lot of premium qualities for that low price. Every one of these shoes is handmade in Italy by the world’s most renowned craftsmen. Only the best materials were used. Like the premium Italian full grain leather uppers. This is the only type of leather that truly gets better with age. The inside features the same leather for the lining making socks optional. It’s finished off with waxed cotton laces that will develop a unique patina of their own. A beautiful shoe for a gorgeous price.
I also own a pair of The Oliver Cabell Low 1 Men’s White Sneaker ($178). If you want to see them in outfits check out my Instagram page. I love these shoes. I wear them with pretty much everything, include blazers and suits. The upper of these shoes are made from 3oz full grain calfskin leather from Veneto, Italy. And they’re lined with Spanish cowhide leather. The sole is an Italian 70 Shore A rubber sole providing great traction. While the footbed inside the sole is Italian calf-skin layered over a removable molded insole. The complete shoe is hand stitched, and lasted in Albacete, Spain.
The Cinque Milano Court Men’s White Sneakers ($112) are another low priced sneaker with an excellent pedigree. The Courts feature a handmade upper with a leather stitched insole. They lined the upper with calfskin leather for a noice fit even when going sockless. The Italian made Margom rubber outsole features a memory foam footbed for excellent comfort. Made in Italy.
The classic tennis shoe, redesigned for the modern man, Converse Jack Purcell Signature White Sneakers ($65) are bursting with features and benefits to ensure all-day comfort. The sophisticated choice for men who prefer to keep it simple, these stylish low-tops feature two-ply canvas uppers, Ortholite insoles cushioned with Nike Zoom Air Technology, a lightweight rubber outsole with herringbone detailing for improved traction, and a winged tongue to reduce friction. Available with or without a slick of color along the toe box, these original white sneakers will take you anywhere.
Designed by New Balance® for J. Crew, the 791 White Leather Sneakers ($75) have a real retro feel. Based on a design taken from the New Balance archives, they feature sleek white leather uppers perforated with the brand’s iconic ‘N’ logo, a luxuriously soft fleece lining for long-lasting comfort, and natural rubber soles that lend authenticity to the original sneaker design. Subtly branded throughout, these iconic tennis shoes will add character to any summer wardrobe, making them a great investment for modern gents who are not afraid to make a style statement.
This is a great shoe at a great price. A Days March is known for their awesome clothing at affordable prices. But they also make a great white sneaker. The A Days March White Men’s Leather Sneaker ($190) is a high-quality sneaker made in Italian calf leather. The upper sites on a Margom-sole in volcanised rubber. When you order you’ll a shoe bag for travel and an extra pair of laces.
Looking for something a little bit sportier? The Reebok Classic Leather White & Gum Sneaker ($64) ticks all the right boxes. Designed to take you from the fitness center to your favorite weekend getaway, these versatile sneakers feature soft leather uppers, high-abrasion rubber outsoles for an improved grip on all terrains, Hexalite midsoles for extra cushioning, and external pump technology for support when you are on the move. Classically styled to complement sportswear and smart-casual attire, these Reebok Classic White Leather Sneakers will take you anywhere this summer.
The Vans for J. Crew Canvas Authentic White Men’s Sneakers ($60) were made for summer days and weekend getaways. Based on the first design ever released by Vans back in 1966, these impeccably styled tennis shoes features cotton canvas uppers, cotton drill cloth linings, vulcanized midsoles for added support, and gum rubber soles with waffle tread for improved traction. For a contemporary twist, Vans finished them with heavy-duty nylon laces and a navy-blue accent line for just a hint of color.
Let’s first start with a little history. One hundred years ago (1917) the first American canvas tennis shoe was mass produced. From this moment on the white sneaker has been an American symbol. Over the next decades as dress codes relaxed and Americans had more leisure time, the white sneaker only grew in popularity.
Along with sneakers, blue jeans, t-shirts, and polos, grew in popularity. The 60s saw an explosion in the popularity of tennis and along with it came the search for a better shoe that provided greater stability and responsiveness for players. The introduced the first ever leather tennis shoe, “Robert Halliet” in the 1960s. Adding a leather upper was a simple change that provided huge improvements to performance.
The current Adidas Stan Smith initially named “Adidas Robert Haillet” when introduced in 1965. Nowadays these type of tennis shoes is now more of a fashion statement than a shoe you would actually take on the court. I now way could they compete with a modern tennis shoe like the Adidas Barricades but I still love them.
The white sneaker is the ultimate sneaker. Period. If you have a style you can add a white pair of kicks and you’ll look better. Throw them on with your salmon colored shorts and your oxford and you’re golden. Into streetwear and are wearing a pair of Adidas track pants, no problem. You’ll be clean for days.
What about business casual? Yes, I say. White sneakers will crush if worn with either a grey or navy suit. You just need a little guidance to make it work. Don’t believe me, check out the end of this post to see two styles by Filippa K that crush the white sneaker with a suit look. What I’m trying to say is that white sneakers will make any outfit in our men’s essential wardrobe look better – jeans and a plain t-shirt, chinos and a polo, v-neck sweater, oxford dress shirt and grey wool pants, a navy blazer and jeans, shorts and an oxford. You name it, the outfit works.
1. Handmade, handmade, handmade – The biggest price difference you’ll see between the cheaper brands and the more expensive brands is in the manufacturing. The most expensive shoes in our suggestions below are FEIT. They make their shoes from start to finish by a single master craftsman. The more affordable but still expensive Common Projects are handmade in an Italian footwear factory in Italy. The fact they make them in small runs also increases the price. Put it this way – handmade in a first world country, and sold in a first world country, you’re going to get first world prices, but a great product.
2. The Uppers – The uppers in the more expensive shoes feature top-shelf leather. We’re talking about full grain leather and Italian leather, with a calfskin lining. You just can’t compare the quality of these shoes with the quality of a $70 pair of Stans. Although I love my stans. I’ll throw on my triple whites, especially if heading to the city or out for the evening. Especially if there’s bad weather or crowds. I won’t have a worry in the world.
3. The Soles – No matter the price if you see a shoe on our list with a Margom sole your dealing with quality. Margom soles feature vulcanized rubber and will take a serious beating. You can put them through the ringer day in and day out and they’ll last forever.
All of the white sneaker suggestions in this article are leather lows. As an older gentleman, I look stupid trying to dress up highs. I suggest you don’t wear them either. The idea behind a Muted style of dress is simplicity. Cutting out all of the unnecessary style elements. Hi-tops are just one of the unnecessary elements. I’m also not a fan of canvas shoes.
Please, please, please take care of your shoes. If you’re going to spend $200+ for a pair of plain white sneakers then you need to take care of them and keep them clean. I’m personally a little ADD when it comes to my white kicks and each time I wear them I give them a quick going over with a toothbrush, liquid soap, and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It takes all of five minutes and you’ll extend the life of your sneakers by years.
