Sometimes I’ll go to my local Best Buy just to check out the latest and greatest. When I’m there, I always walk into the high-end area, get my phone out, and play some tunes through the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Wireless Speaker ($700). Beside that fact that is looks so cool, the sound the emanates from it is spectacular. The Zeppelin is the definitive high-end Bluetooth speaker. Well B&W have gone an improved it, and now it’s almost too irresistible to pass up.
The new design gets rid of the chrome center band altogether, as well as the predominantly displayed dock in the front. Connectivity is through either Bluetooth, AirPlay, or Spotify Connect. The speakers have also been improved to 2 double dome tweeters, two midrange drivers with FST tech, and a 6.5″ subwoofer. The whole kit is driven by supercharged 192khz 24-bit DACs connected to 2 x 25W tweeter amps, 2 x 25W midrange amps, and a dedicated 50W amp for the subwoofer. This setup will get a nice frequency response of 44Hz-28kHz.
If you want the best in wireless sound quality, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything better than the Zeppelin.
