It’s spring, so we’re starting to get looks at a lot of cool bikes. The latest is the Dutchmann Vicious Bike ($4,800). If you want one of these beautiful bikes you need to act fact because only 10 will be made. Each bike is the result of a collaboration between Duncan MacIntyre, one of the best bicycle frame builders in South Africa, and composite expert Anton Dekker.
The frame is hand-brazed and made from Reynolds 653 and Columbus steel tubing, which is known for its strength-to-weight ratio. The frame is then stripped and coppered by Gavin Oliver.
The wheels are bespoke Tri-Spoke wheels made from carbon fiber composites. The process to build these, includes a custom mold, and hand-layering of 4 layers of composites & honey-comb to create high performance rims. They are available with either a fixed gear hub or coaster.
