Fanhattan is about to release their set-top box that combines the features found in your standard cable box with your streaming services like Netflix. Fanhattan’s Fan TV Set-Top Box ($TBA) will give you access to TV, DVR, VOD, and streaming movies from a single interface. Fan-TV’s discovery service will allow you to find your favorite shows across various streaming services while letting you watch titles from your local cable or satellite providers. The big selling point here is that you don’t have to switch back and forth between your cable box and your streaming device, i.e. Apple TV, Roku. You can find everything you need from a single interface. Fan-TV will not be sold directly to customers. They will be partnering with Pay TV companies to make the box available to their customers. If they also let you read movie files from an external drive I might be sold.
