Unless you’ve actually been to war, it’s hard to understand what the people who’ve fought and war go through. However, Full Metal Jacket ($5) by Stanley Kubrick does a good job of portraying a day in the life of a soldier. Starring Matthew Modine, R. Lee Erney, and Vincent D’Onofrio, full metal jacket is about a United States Marine that sees the dehumanizing effects that the war in Vietnam has on his fellow recruits. It takes his story from the brutal part of training in boot camp to the street fighting that’s found in Hue. This movie is a great example of a well made war flick.
