Unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show, the 2017 Bugatti Chiron ($2.6M) looks to become the fastest production car on the planet. A brand new 8-liter W16, 16 cylinder engine, delivers a sick 1500 horses. Attached to the W16 are four turbochargers. Two of which kick on as soon as your foot touches the pedal and the other two activate once you get to about 3,800 rpm. All of this adds up to 1180 lb-ft of torque delivered between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm.
So what do all of those numbers add up to with regards to speed? Glad you asked. The Chiron can reach 62mph from a stand still in under 2.5 seconds. If you keep going, you will reach 124 mph in under 6.5 seconds. If you had balls of a bull and kept going, you’d reach 186 mph in a hair under 13.6 seconds.
The 2017 Bugatti Chiron has a top speed is 261 mph. If you’re planning on burying the needle, I suggest hitting up your local track for a weekend run.
