Mercedes-Benz has unveiled their latest concept, and it is a thing of beauty. The Mercedes-Benz “Concept IAA” (Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile) ($TBA) has two modes that alter the car’s shape when it’s driving. The IAA will switch between design mode to an aerodynamic mode with the car reaches 80 km/h.
Upon reaching 80 km/h, eight segments at the rear extend increasing the car’s length by up to 390mm. While the front bumper extends by 25mm and the rear bumper extends 20mm. But the transformation doesn’t end there. The active rims change their concavity from 55mm to 0, and the Louvre in the front bumper moves 60mm to the rear, improving underbody air flow.
The engine is a gas/electric plug-in hybrid that puts out about 279 horses. The currently have the top speed governed at 150 mph. The all-electric range is 41 miles.
