Before we jump into the list let’s answer some relevant questions.
Packable Down Jacket FAQ
A packable down jacket is a down jacket that you can store away. These jackets will fold into a backpack or suitcase without adding too much weight. While any down jacket will be very light, most can’t fold into small areas for those times you don’t need it.
Down jackets are in style in the sense that they are never out of style. These items are too practical and too useful to ever go out of circulation!
There are a few ways you can style a down jacket. One is to lean into the practical aspect. Pair it with a thick knitted sweater or flannel shirt, along with heavy boots and rugged jeans. Another option is to go for an urban look. Choose a hoodless down jacket and match it with a beanie and hoodie. Down vests also work well worn this way. Finally, a down jacket can look smarter if you choose a thinner style with no hood. Wear it over the top of an oxford shirt and chinos for a great look.
A down jacket is generally considered to be a more casual look. The best down jackets are more about keeping you warm and dry than helping you to look professional. That said, there are woolier jackets that will work with office attire. And these are also a good option for your commute.
A jacket designed to be waterproof and warm, and is better worn in the winter months.

Looking for a practical packable down jacket? The Amazon Essentials Men’s Puffer Jacket ($39) should definitely be on your list. For one, this jacket is affordable, especially compared with some others on this list. The value here is crazy! Moreover, this not only packs very small but even comes with a small pouch to store it in. This is not high fashion. You can see the seams a little more clearly, and the material doesn’t have a premium look or feel. BUT it is still a good looking jacket with a nice finish. And that’s pretty amazing considering the price and its packability.
