I had never really thought that Google Glass was going to be something I would use. I just got the feeling that wearing them was somewhat voyeuristic. But after seeing the new app, from GlassFit, Race Yourself ($TBA) I’m starting to see the light.
The premise behind the App is that if you can track what you’re doing, you can improve on it. But what better motivation do we all have than ourselves. Race Yourself creates an augmented reality where you can race against your personal best, average over a period of time, pick a specific time in your history, or even race against friends. They also have a cycling option.
GlassFit will offer hundreds of games and upgrades to keep you motivated. Users will be able to earn points by burning calories or beating personal bests. If you get enough points you’ll be able to unlock games or features form the UI. The better the feature the more points that’ll be required to unlock it. Besides the App, they will also be selling heart rate monitors and speedometers which will be required to access additional features.
GlassFit is looking to launch the Race Yourself App at the same time Google Glass fully launches. They will also be running a Kickstarter campaign in the next couple of months to help with funding.
