Recon is a tech company base out of Canada; that creates heads-up displays for extreme sports. The company has been around since 2008 and were just bought by Intel last year. Their latest offering is a collaboration with Empire Paintball and is the first heads-up display for paintball. The Recon Empire EVS ($TBA) uses the same display of the companies Airwave product but encloses IT in a full mask that can take the abuse of paintball combat.
The display will show all the information you need for successful combat. Such as ammo counts, field maps and team locations. Specs are looking pretty good as well. The system runs on an Android OS, and the hardware includes a 1GHZ Intel dual-core processor, Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, GPS, and dual pane lenses to help with fogging. There’s no word yet on when the Recon Empire EVS will start shipping, but you can check out the companies website for the latest updates.
Sahn helmets ($129) offer a nice departure from your standard aggressive styled bike helmets. These helmets feature clean lines and are made from a tough ABS plastic outer shell with an absorbing polystyrene inner layer. The also have easily adjustable straps, comfortable foam padding, and a swiss-made rear dial harness.
