The Sennheiser HD-800 Headphones ($1500) have been promoted as some of the best headphones ever. The HD-800’s use premium parts, which include; precision stainless steel cases for the transducers, japanese Alcantara for the ear pads, and specially designed, four-wire, teflon insulated connections. The Sennheiser HD-800 were developed with one thing in mind, to replicate natural sound as closely as possible. And based on the reviews I believe they’ve done that. Now, because these headphones let you hear the bow on the strings, or the detail of fingers dancing across the frets, they are considered a forward sounding headphone. If you like a more neutral and laid back sound you may prefer the Beyerdynamic DT 990 ($380).
