If you love riding your motorcycle in your favorite denim jacket, then maybe you need to reconsider your choice of protective gear. The Taylor Stitch Long Haul Jacket in Dyneema Denim ($328) provides substantially more protection over your regular ole Levi’s denim jacket.
Dyneema is made from an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene and has been in use for a number of years. It’s 15 times stronger than steel, is resistant to moisture, ultraviolet damage, and is light enough to float on water. When compared to regular denim, Dyneema can manage a 3.75-second slide before wearing through, while denim can manage just .4 seconds.
The Long Haul Jacket is made from 13.7 ounce 52% Dyneema, 37% cotton, and 9% Polyamide. Taylor Stitch says their Long Haul is not only made to withstand road rash but to last longer than its denim counterpart. Features include hand-warmer pockets, zig-zag reinforcement stitching, and YKK buttons.
