The making of Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’s Classified Moto Motorcycle ($NFS): If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, then you know in the latest episode the gang is holed up in their latest safe haven, Alexandria, and Daryl just got a new bike.
Now if you’re into the custom bike scene and watched the show, the first thing you would have noticed were the gold forks on the bike and you might have thought they looked real familiar.
Well it just so happens that Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), has a Classified in the garage and when the show asked him if he had any ideas about his new bike he went straight to John Rylan of Classified Moto. And the rest is history
Norman painted of picture of Daryl’s character and where they were in the story, the Executive Producer and Prop Master filled in the rest and John took over from there.
They needed to build two bikes and started with a pair of 750cc Hondas from the ’90s. If you watch the show you know they needed to make the bikes look like they were put together from different lots and different models.
They gave them sportbike front ends, and painted the engine components to look like they were made from a hodge podge of components.
Additional updates included knobby dirt-bike tires, upgraded rear suspension, and a pair of $1000 Progressive shocks.
By getting rid of unnecessary components, John and the team were able to fill the void they left with an ancient military canvas bag that Daryl uses in the show.
John R. says,”The process was a designer’s dream — an unbelievable assignment and a client with a shared aesthetic sense. Two thumbs up.”
